Fucus Kelp: Anti Fat Supplement and Weight Loss Aid

I recently discovered an herbal supplement that has been reported to help with natural weight loss.  I’m really not someone who believes in weight loss pills.  So, I’m always looking for natural remedies to help improve my health and manage my weight.  The product that I’m taking now is Aquazon

This product has a seaweed or marine algae (Fucus) that is a century-old homeopathic remedy for weight loss, slimming or reducing weight.

Fucus (fucus vesiculosus), also called kelp or bladderwrack, is a brown algae seaweed found on the North Sea coast, the Western Baltic coast, and the Atlantic and Pacific coasts.  It has been used for centuries in Europe for weight management and to stimulate lymphatic circulation.   Recent studies have shown that fucus promotes healthy tissue growth, stimulates the immune system and helps maintain balance in blood glucose levels.

The main ingredient used from fucus vesiculosus is iodine which stimulates the thyroid gland to speed up metabolism.  The increase in metabolism has the potential to initiate weight loss.

Fucus is used to increase/balance thyroid hormone activity, reduction of appetite/craving for foods and slow conversion of fats and carbohydrates into body fat.

Seaweed as kelp and fucus effectively stimulates the metabolism and helps with the breakdown of fatty tissue leading to a fast and safe way of weight loss.  Other benefits are that the combination of natural minerals and trace elements within the seaweed also helps to control the appetite, elimination of toxins, assists in the fight against water retention.

Fucus is used for increasing/balance thyroid hormone activity. By many seen as a healthy way to beat the menopause weight with no side effects and many added benefits.  Important source of bio minerals, trace elements, vitamins, essential amino acids and fiber.

Aquazon is a unique blend of Klamath Lake Blue-Green Algae and Marine Algae (Fucus), a seaweed also known as kelp.  This formula provides exceptional support to the immune and nervous systems.  It also promotes overall health and longevity.

Benefits of Aquazon:

  • Increases energy
  • Rich source of trace minerals
  • Promotes mental clarity and concentration

Fiberzon and Fiberzon Plus: The Natural Way To Cleanse and Detox

I have found a secret to weight loss and improved health.

At one point in my life I was considered obese.  I was obese because my body mass index was over 30.  As we all know, obesity is linked to increased risk of cancer, heart disease and other health problems.

I was tired all the time and knew that I needed to lose weight.  It didn’t take me long to realize that my terrible eating habits and lack of exercise had caused my body to accumulate toxins and excess weight.  I decided to make a healthy lifestyle change by eating healthier and exercising in order to change my body.  Then I discovered colon cleansing as a secret to better health and weight loss.  By practicing a regular colon cleansing routine to compliment my healthier lifestyle I managed to safely and naturally lose 50 pounds and learn how to maintain an ideal weight.

Many people are walking around with excess weight, feeling lethargic, tired, and suffering with various aches and pains and illnesses due to auto-intoxication.  Self-poisoning or auto-intoxication happens when the body’s elimination system does not function properly.  Toxins are reabsorbed into the blood stream and spread throughout the body.  When this happens the colon becomes sluggish or clogged and cannot properly process and eliminate food wastes and toxins.

Are You Feeling Sluggish and Slow?

It all starts with understanding how important regularity is to optimal health. If you eat three meals a day, you should have three bowl movements a day. If you are not eliminating waste products from the body, then there is a buildup of waste matter in your body. Like a backed-up toilet in your home, excess waste can collect and putrefy, causing a toxic colon.

Don’t Ignore These Facts -

  • Colon cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States
  • Digestive disorders kill 200,000 Americans every year
  • 25 million Americans per year see a doctor for constipation, spending billions of dollars on laxatives
  • Digestive stress is linked to 90 million doctor visits annually and over 65 different health challenges

Over the years, I have tried several different methods of detox and colon cleansing with successful results.  Recently I was introduced to a new cleansing product that I am very happy to share with you.  My daily colon cleansing routine includes a combination of Fiberzon and Fiberzon Plus.  Both products are a synergistic blend of fibers and botanicals that have been used for centuries for their detoxifying, energizing and revitalizing properties.

By taking the Fiberzon products I am experiencing the benefits of a healthier colon and proper elimination along with:

  • mental clarity
  • increased energy
  • fewer toxins
  • gorgeous skin (see my picture ;-) )
  • weight loss/maintenance
  • stronger immune system
  • healthy joints
  • improved digestion

Fiberzon works like an intestinal broom to gently cleanse and eliminate unwanted toxins from your body and maintain a healthy intestinal tract.  It comes in a powder form that includes psyllium husk and slippery elm bark.  You can blend Fiberzon with water and take first thing in the morning and before bedtime.

Fiberzon Plus is a gentle, yet more aggressive formulation than Fiberzon.  It contains 34% pure Fiberzon, as well as a special blend of rhubarb root and Sangre de Drago sap for additional digestive support.  Begin by taking one Fiberzon Plus capsule daily before bedtime.  The usual dose is one to three capsules daily.  Increase your amount each day until you achieve the desired results.  The amount required may vary with each individual.

Fiberzon and Fiberzon Plus can be used individually or together, depending on your preferred cleansing regime.

Most people are shocked to learn that the average person holds between 5 and 10 pounds of putrefied fecal matter and other foul material in the body.

So, are you practicing a daily colon cleansing routine?  If not, what are you waiting for?

Hot Dogs: What Is A Hot Dog and How Is It Made?

Are you a hot dog lover?

If so, do you know what is really in a hot dog and how it’s made?

Well, at one time I was a hot dog lover too.  I have fond memories of the smells coming from the many hot dog pushcarts on the downtown streets of Washington, DC…many years ago.  There was nothing like a nice spring or summer day and a nice hot juicy hot dog with all the fixings!  It was heaven. That is, until I watched a video on how hot dogs are made and what was actually in a hot dog.  OMG!! That was enough for me.  I could no longer stomach the thought or bring myself to eat another hot dog after seeing that video.

So for all you hot dog lovers out there, this one is for you. Just in case you didn’t already know and were the least bit curious, check out this very informative video to discover what’s in a hot dog and how hot dogs are made.

Well, as I said, I no longer eat hot dogs. It has a lot to do with conscious eating. Once you know what you’re putting into your body, it really shouldn’t matter how good something tastes on the lips if it isn’t good for you, right? You should agree with me on this one, okay.

Do you remember the ingredients named in making hot dogs? I remember hearing salt (mentioned more than once) and more importantly, pork, beef, and chicken trimmings or leftovers.

To me that screams disease…heart disease, diabetes, cancer and some more issues.

Now, let’s suppose after watching that video you still have no fear or shame about the havoc eating hot dogs wreaks on your health and your body. That could be understandable because many individuals struggle with giving up their favorite foods that are unhealthy and making more nutritious choices when they aren’t aware of their options.

Well, today as I was wandering through Whole Foods (one of my favorite things to do by the way), look what I found in the meat department – - -

Applegate Farms Organic Uncured Chicken Hot Dogs and Turkey Hot Dogs

And this….

Applegate Farms Uncured Chicken Hot Dogs and Turkey Hot Dogs

Unfortunately, I have not tried these hot dogs so I can’t give you my personal review. However, they sound like a much healthier option for someone that loves eating hot dogs. You have the choice of organic or non-organic. They’re gluten and casein free, and do not include any antibiotics or preservatives. Another healthy benefit is that these hot dogs are uncured, which means “no nitrates or nitrites”. Although nitrates are listed as being harmless, the risk is that they can convert to a nitrite, which can form nitrosamines, a powerful cancer-causing chemical, in your body. Because of this fact, hot dogs are listed in the Nitrate category as one of “The 10 Worst Foods You Can Eat”. If you do eat foods containing nitrates, it is recommended that you have a glass of orange juice at the same time (for instance, orange juice with your morning bacon). Vitamin C is known to inhibit the conversion to nitrosamines in your stomach. I doubt many individuals are drinking orange juice when they eat hot dogs.

Well, I’m curious to know your thoughts on these healthier hot dogs…have you tried them? If so, what do you think?

How Healthy Is Chocolate Really?

I have a confession to make…I’m a chocoholic.

I think my obsession must have started in the womb.  I should ask my mother if she was eating lots of chocolate while she was carrying me.  I’ve just always really enjoyed eating chocolate.  And I actually think anyone who doesn’t has major issues.  How could you not like chocolate?

So, my obsession started with milk chocolate…milk chocolate with nuts.  I would always feel so guilty about my over-indulgence…afterwards, of course.  Then, years ago I read somewhere that dark chocolate was good for you.  The article said it was healthy.  Awesome!  I switched to eating dark chocolate.  You can’t feel guilty about eating something healthy right?

Still I admit that chocolate is one of those guilty pleasures that I’m constantly trying to rationalize as a healthy food.  Actually, I’m pretty sure I read somewhere, that dark chocolate is close to being named a superfood.  I love reading about the healthy benefits of eating dark chocolate.  Chocolate contains antioxidants.  Eating chocolate triggers the release of endorphins.  Chocolate is good for your blood pressure.  And best of all, chocolate is an anti aging food.

In addition to all that good news, I found three more healthy benefits of eating chocolate:

Chocolate makes you smarter

Ample research suggests that the flavonols in dark chocolate increase cerebral blood flow, which in turn may trigger the creation of new blood vessels and brain cells.  Also, a new study showed that older adults performed better on cognitive tests after eating small portions of the sweet stuff.

Chocolate weakens heart attacks

A new study showed that regular chocolate eaters who had heart disease were less likely to die following a heart attack compared with the people who didn’t treat themselves to the dark and dreamy stuff.

Chocolate helps fight cavities:

Some interesting new research shows a compound in chocolate — theobromine — may be just as good as fluoride at hardening tooth enamel.  So the compound could find its way into toothpaste and mouthwash one day.  Until then, keep in mind that most commercially prepared chocolate has lots of sugar in it.

Well, despite finding all this good information about the healthy benefits of eating dark chocolate, I don’t want to overdose on the stuff…I don’t think.  Plus, I have to think about my waistline and the harmful effects to my blood sugar.

I found a healthy chocolate that I want to share.  Chocamaca is a healthy chocolate that has all the benefits of dark chocolate, plus much, much more.  It contains organic cacao, 11 healthy botanicals, including camu camu, kiwicha, jatoba and suma – - – concentrated nutrients from whole foods that provide energy, boost the immune system and support the cardiovascular system.

So what do you think?  How healthy is chocolate?

~Melissa
